KACE has announced the launch of the KBOX systems management appliance.

With vulnerability management technology provided by Lumension, it is designed to automate patch management and limits the exposure to vulnerabilities, as well as converge systems and security policy management to maximise endpoint security coverage.

KACE also claimed that it will offer patch management to encompass all major operating systems and applications, including Windows OS, Mac OS, Microsoft applications, non-Microsoft applications and anti-virus updates. It will also patch remote systems regardless of where they are located.

Rob Meinhardt, CEO of KACE, said: “In smaller operations IT managers tend to be generalists and will do several jobs in comparison to the larger companies where there will be an email specialist or a security specialist, so they tend to rely on automatic patching.

“If you are not fully focused on what patches to apply, you can use this to ensure that patches are done in a timely fashion and you can ensure that critical patches go through or patches for the main browser are applied.”

Pat Clawson, chairman and CEO of Lumension, said: “KACE's turn-key appliance-based approach, marrying IT policy management techniques with Lumension's patch and remediation technology, which include access to the world's largest repository of content, extends security coverage and breadth.

“This combination allows customers to benefit from leveraging the industry's broadest range of validated patching content.”
