Lumension has announced the general availability of its device control for the Microsoft system centre (DCSC).

The company claimed that it will enable users to protect corporate data and centrally deploy, manage, enforce and monitor device access, file transfer and encryption policies. In addition, Lumension has joined the Microsoft System Centre Alliance.

Lumension DCSC integrates into the System Centre Configuration Manager 2007 environment, eliminating the need for a separate server console and leveraging already-established system and user groups. This allows faster device/port control deployment, reducing the acquisition and implementation costs related to ‘server sprawl' and associated training costs, according to the company.

JD Marymee, director of strategic partner alliances, management and services division at Microsoft, said: “We are pleased to welcome Lumension to the Microsoft System Centre Alliance, and we are excited about the opportunity to collaborate on future solutions that will benefit System Centre customers.

“Our work with Lumension provides our customers with powerful endpoint security options for securing data and ensuring privacy and confidentiality with system centre.”

Rich Hlavka, senior vice president of business development at Lumension, said: “Our participation in the Microsoft System Centre Alliance validates our commitment to nurturing and growing this community of innovators.

“The majority of data breaches and leaks of sensitive company information today are inside jobs. Through our work with Microsoft, we are extending proven data protection solution on the market to System Centre customers. By doing this, we take away the burden of having users purchase a separate console or adding new administration overhead to the already-stressed IT staff. They can leverage their current investment and add layers of defence to safeguard their crown jewel.”
