M86 Security has announced the introduction of the MailMarshal SMTP 6.7 behaviour-based malware detection service.
The company claimed that by including IP reputation and a blended threat module, MailMarshal SMTP 6.7 is the industry's first integrated ‘in the cloud' malware protection and blended threat offering.
It also combines content security, a defence-in-depth anti-spam engine and IP reputation analysis that applies to both inbound and outbound email communication. Meanwhile incoming spam is blocked by the M86 IP reputation service, and the SpamBotCensor uses M86 Security Labs' knowledge of botnets to identify and block bot-based spam.
This marks the first launch of a behavioural malware detection technology product since the acquisition of Avinti earlier this year, M86 Security claimed that intelligence from the cloud-based blended threat knowledge service is incorporated into the company's WebMarshal and R3000 Web Security products to enhance the blocking of malicious websites.
Former Avinti CEO, and now chief marketing officer of M86 Security, William Kilmer, said: “Blended threats are the most prominent malicious email security threat to organisations today. In fact, according to recent research from M86 Security Labs, blended email threats have spiked to exceed 30 per cent of all spam, about one in every three messages. We are proud to offer a unique service that can solve a significant and recognised industry problem."
