A recent Microsoft contest to find star developers failed to find winners but attracted hackers.

The ‘DevSta' contest was created to look for star developers in Australia as a follow on from its ‘Tech Ed' event. However the events most notable response was by hackers who defaced contest entries

The hackers, who are believed to be Turkish, created graffiti on the site and offered practical demonstrations of Microsoft's software insecurities.

The theme of the competition was to somehow use ‘new school' technologies to develop submissions having ‘old school' charm, however the entries included on-screen calculators, a ‘secure' trash bin, an old-fashioned green-screen terminal interface for Twitter and .net clones of Pong and Missile Command.
