Napera is to launch its operation into the European market.

The company provides network security solutions for small and medium enterprises with its switch-based Napera N24 providing staff control over the users and computers accessing the corporate network by enabling easy management of Microsoft Windows Security Centre.

The N24 identifies devices on the network with a device discovery function and integrates with Microsoft Active Directory for managing identity for employees and guests. The appliance can be installed and configured in ten minutes and is easy to manage, using the MyNapera.com portal, a web-based management service for logging, reporting, alerts, and back-up.

Napera will be distributed in the UK by VCW Security and European vice-president and security industry veteran, Pierre Blom, will lead Napera's European operations from its base in London, UK. He joins the company from BioPassword, having previously worked with CTO and founder Chris Boscolo at WatchGuard as part of the team that invented its firewall appliance.

Blom said: “Over 99 per cent of companies in Europe have less than 1,000 employees, so there's a need for an enterprise-strength solution that's affordable and appropriate for a smaller business. We expect at least a third of our global business to come from Europe in 2009 as we expand our partner network and illustrate the value we can bring to smaller enterprises.”

Chris Boscolo, Napera's founder and CTO, commented: “SMEs know the risks involved with IT downtime. A virus often means the entire workforce is without network access for a day or more, which has a huge impact on productivity, revenues and even the company's reputation, and can cost thousands of pounds. Our mission is to give IT managers the confidence that their network is safe, which comes down to visibility and control.”
