Check Point has announced the launch of a new software blade infrastructure to offer gigabit performance and multi-domain security management.

The Series 80 Appliance is designed for remote and branch offices and delivers 1.5GB performance. It also includes several software blades including firewall, intrusion prevention, VPN, anti-virus and anti-malware, URL filtering, anti-spam and email security software.

The company also said that in addition, it offers high port density with 10GbE ports to manage the entire branch network in one appliance in a small desktop form factor for remote branch offices.

Dorit Dor, vice president of products at Check Point, said: “Enterprises are demanding more protection, faster performance and increased simplicity to protect their entire network from data centres to the smallest branch offices.

“Today we are bringing to market an ideal solution for these smaller offices. Our new Series 80 Appliance is stronger in security, faster in performance but smaller in size and price and provides companies greater security at the ends of their network, the branch offices.”

New multi-domain software blades for virtual security management have also been launched. Check Point said that the new blades enable businesses to segment their security management into virtual domains, while consolidating their hardware infrastructure. It also said that they allow for stronger and better security with the deployment of consistent global policies across all domains.

According to Check Point, to handle the increasing security complexity of their environment, IT administrators can now simplify management by segmenting security into virtual domains based on location, business unit or security function. The multi-domain management software blades help administrators consolidate their security management, while preserving the independence of each domain.
