Trend Micro has announced the launch of the next version of its mobile security product to offer device management.

According to Trend Micro, Mobile Security 7 for business extends protection beyond traditional PCs to protect data and reduce data loss incidents on consumer products including Android devices and Apple iPhones and iPads.

Features include a centralised, single management console that features a central management framework that allows for management of the security and configuration of PCs and mobile devices. Trend Micro said that mobile device management provides centralised enrolment, provisioning and de-provisioning for network and application access, as well as critical visibility into devices and status.

Rik Ferguson, director of security and research at Trend Micro, said: “The consumerisation of IT carries with it a unique blend of strategic and operational challenges. The lack of a planned approach to consumerisation creates security risk, financial exposure and a management nightmare for IT. Despite these risks, it represents a great opportunity for organisations of all sizes to drive increases in productivity, business agility and customer and employee satisfaction.

“With Mobile Security 7, IT personnel can begin to meet these challenges and allow their companies to take full advantage of the benefits from consumerisation.”
