Promisec INNERspace provides fully automated clientless auditing, reporting, remediation and management of software and hardware throughout the enterprise.
It allows administrators to manage assets, while preventing unauthorised changes to systems and keeping up compliance according to standards such as PCI DSS, GLBA, HIPAA and SOX, amongst others. It also incorporates power management and green computing as part of policy so machines can be assigned proper power profiles but can still be managed without the need for wake-on-LAN.
Installation is simple and straightforward. The server installation wizard will install and set up all of the necessary components for the system, including the server, management tools, management console and the server sentry or agent.
After the system is installed all management is done through the management console, which has a very organised look and feel. Sentries are deployed easily through a deployment console inside the management console and initial setup is complete.
Setting up policies in Promisec INNERSpace is quick and easy, with a vast amount of options. Some policy options include detecting unauthorised software and hardware, as well as policy compliance such as anti-virus software, hotfixes, service packs and Group Policy Object compliance. We found this policy engine to be very comprehensive and quite flexible, with the ability to create very specialised custom templates quickly and easily.
Documentation that we were provided with comprised several PDF guides including an installation and user guide. All of these guides were clear and well organised, complete with easy to follow step-by-step instructions and many screenshots and configuration examples.
Promisec support is provided as part of a perpetual licensing agreement, with annual maintenance at a price of 20 per cent of the original purchase price. This includes 24/7 phone and email technical support. However there is no online web-based support offered in the form of a knowledgebase or forum for customers.
At a price of £28 per endpoint for the premium package Promisec INNERspace delivers solid value for the money. It offers a vast amount of control in an easy-to-deploy and manage package.
