What was your first job?

I was a dishwasher at the York Steak House at a Northern Virginia shopping mall.

What do you think most people imagine your job as?

Watching security consoles and chasing bad guys off our network.

If you were to describe yourself as a household object, what would it be?

I would be a television DVR.

What would your last meal be?

A bacon cheeseburger from Five Guys.

If the battle between IT security pros and cyber threats were to be embodied in comic book characters, what classic super hero/nemesis match-up do you think would be most fitting?

Syndrome and The Incredibles family.

If you had to have an occupation other than the one you're doing, what would you do?

I would be a short order cook at a diner by day and a lounge singer at night.

Have you ever heard a good joke about IT security?

Yes. "There, I'm finished.  Now I can move on to doing something else!"

What is the most important personality trait for a successful cyber security professional?

Someone who always asks questions and is never satisfied with the answers.

What technology did you used to rely on, and are now happy is obsolete?

CRT monitors, floppy drives, PDAs and wired headsets for mobile phones.

What is the best career advice you ever received?

If you behave as you are, you will remain. If you behave as you “can be”, you will become.
