Scyron has appointed Peter Cain as its chief technology officer.

The security and surveillance company has appointed Cain to strengthen and grow significantly the company's research and development (R&D) capability. The company is also planning to address the growing market for intelligent networked video surveillance, which is estimated to be worth $1.7 billion worldwide by 2012.

Cain said: “We see a great opportunity to take the lead in intelligent networked CCTV and video surveillance. In the future, intelligent CCTV cameras will alert security officers to specific incidents taking place wherever that officer may be.

“Our objective at Scyron is to ensure that we are best placed to handle the fusion of intelligent video surveillance systems with fixed and wireless network technology.”
