Background

Information Assurance (IA) has never been so important, both to the public sector and to the public as a whole. People are increasingly expecting to access many government services through the internet, and the Government aims to use information and communications technology (ICT) to deliver its services effectively. To achieve this, the public need to feel confident that the Government can demonstrate it can properly protect the information entrusted to it.

In this climate, effective information risk management and assurance of IPO information systems is vital.

Main duties

An experienced security professional, you will provide technical security advice as part of any change to IPO IT systems or incidents, ensuring that the risks to our information systems are understood and addressed so that security is considered early in the project life cycle and IA owners and the senior information risk owner (SIRO) are able to take properly informed judgments about the risks they own.

With your strong project management and communication skills, you will oversee the IPO cryptography and manage relevant external and internal relationships effectively.

You will have skills and experience in:

  • Compliance Review Level 5
  • Emerging Technology Monitoring Level 5; Continuity Management Level 4
  • Security Administration Level 5
  • A network of contacts within HMG security community
  • Risk assessment using HMG IS1 & IS2
