Shavlik have introduced a patching workflow solution for deploying updates for both Microsoft and non-Microsoft applications.
The Shavlik SCUPdates catalogue delivers update information from multiple vendors to Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). The company claimed that SCUPdates provides a single, trusted source for updates from the likes of Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Sun Java, Firefox, Apple iTunes and others.
Mark Shavlik, CEO of Shavlik Technologies, claimed that the four most attacked applications of 2009 were non-Microsoft applications
He said: “Rather than spend hours and hours to research and create their own detection logic for these applications, administrators can leverage Shavlik's patch data and get coverage for multiple vendors, multiple products from a single, trusted source. Researching and creating this data is at the core of what we do every day and it's a key part of our drive to simplify complex network security and management.”
