Shavlik Technologies is to provide support for Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager via its SCUPdates technology.

The company claimed that the SCUPdates technology is a catalogue file that supports patching Microsoft legacy applications and non-Microsoft applications such as Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Sun Java, Firefox and others, by providing security updates from many vendors via a single trusted source.

Microsoft System Center is a suite of management products and solutions designed to help customers manage the physical and virtual IT environments across data centres, client computers and edge devices.

Mark Shavlik, CEO at Shavlik Technologies, said: “We're delighted to become a part of the Microsoft System Center Alliance and believe the new Shavlik SCUPdates solution will be an ideal complement to Configuration Manager for patching applications beyond current Microsoft operating systems and applications.”

JD Marymee, director of strategic alliances, management and services division for Microsoft, said: “We are pleased that Shavlik Technologies has joined the System Center Alliance. SCUPdates from Shavlik greatly simplifies and streamlines Configuration Manager's capability to patch customer's environments.”
