WatchGuard has launched a unified threat management (UTM) appliance for companies with up to 50 users.

Named the WatchGuard XTM 330, the rack-mount gateway security appliance includes next-generation firewall and intrusion prevention capabilities, with users able to add application control, gateway anti-virus, WebBlocker, spamBlocker and WatchGuard's context-aware, cloud-based security service, Reputation Enabled Defense.

The company also said it includes the ability to create VPN tunnels for Apple iOS-based devices, and supports clientless single sign-on.

Tim Helming, director of product management at WatchGuard Technologies, said: “Now businesses with 50 employees or fewer can have the same type of security and protection that Fortune 1000 enterprises, financial institutions and government agencies use to keep out spyware, malware and other web threats.

“No other security appliance, UTM or next-generation firewall offers as much capability and firewall throughput in this price class. For small businesses, this is a redefining moment to combat cyber attacks and internet criminals.”
