Security vendor Sophos have produced a free "Threatasaurus", an A-Z of security jargon terms explained in plain English, and a Windows tool for basic file encryption, both available for free at http://www.sophos.com/microsite/data-protection/.

Like most specialist industries the security business has its own favourite jargon so the guide will be of use to many less technically-minded people trying to make sense of new threats and other security issues. The free encryption tool will also prove useful to reduce the risk of data falling into unauthorised hands, although it is of course important to use a suitably secure key to make the most of the protection offered.
