Sourcefire has announced an expansion of its channel partner network.
Calling it a year of expansion, EMEA managing director Graham Welch said that the company is now focusing on key deliverables for its providers in what has been a steady year across the EMEA region for the vendor.
Anthony Perridge, EMEA channel director for Sourcefire, said that as the vendor is close to delivering all of its business through the channel, this year it has expanded its network with 23 new partners across EMEA. This includes new partners in Austria, Croatia, Poland, Qatar and Russia, as well as six new partners in Germany.
Talking to SC Magazine, Perridge said: “We believe that we have an aggressive deal registration in the industry and compared with other technologies we believe that our offering is very healthy.
“At the end of the day for the partner, they have to use their expertise and time to know the vendors and need to focus on what the opportunity is and that is how we have better management.”
Steve Smith, managing director of Pentura, said that it had been working with Sourcefire for just over four years and while it was vendor agnostic it tries to sit on the fence with the best solution for its customers.
Bruce Hockin, head of business strategy, networking and security at Avnet Technology Solutions, who were appointed as the sole UK distributor at the beginning of 2010, told SC Magazine that it was a challenge with the visibility of the technology as customers want the best technology in the market and want to know what the opportunity looks like.
“There are good vendors in the industry and if an organisation was to say that they wanted another technology because their existing solution was at the end of the lifecycle, what has good service and good support? Sourcefire has got good technology, good people and is very easy to work with,” Hockin said.
