Spamina has unveiled a cloud web security solution that offers URL filtering and data loss prevention.

The email and web security solutions provider, which offers technology in public, hybrid and private cloud environments, told SC magazine that archiving, encryption and data loss prevention (DLP) solutions would arrive this year.

According to the company, Cloud Web Security offers URL filtering using a layered approach that employs web filtering technologies including real-time content analysis and behavioural modelling, in conjunction with more than 50 constantly updated categories of millions of websites.

It also offers anti-virus with sophisticated dynamic anomaly detection and behavioural modelling systems, while control can be gained over applications and bandwidth consumption.

Spamina said that the DLP service provides control over the malicious or accidental distribution of sensitive data or private information and controls who can upload important files to the web or post sensitive content on websites, blogs, wikis or webmail.

An inbound and outbound policy compliance service actively monitors acceptable use policies, ensures the appropriate use of web resources and blocks inappropriate conduct and prohibited content.

Andrea Gil, CEO of Spamina, said: “The interactivity and functionality delivered by Web 2.0 is both a blessing and a curse. Users find new ways to engage with each other and their customers, but this can come at a cost.

“Users can become distracted and less productive if there is uncontrolled use of the web, while the ability to interact in conversation has opened up a new vector for the leakage of proprietary and confidential information; the act of browsing the internet also has the potential to deliver viruses and malware into the organisation. Spamina's new Cloud Web Security delivers the granular controls to mitigate these risks.”
