Temasek Polytechnic-IBM Security Operations Centre to train Singaporean cyber-security pros

News by Danielle Correa

The Temasek Polytechnic-IBM Security Operations Centre (SOC) will train 500 Singapore students in fighting cyber-crime over the next five years. This partnership marks the third collaboration for IBM and TP.

SOC intends to increase student expertise and thus their employability given the increasing demand for skilled cyber-security professionals.  Faculty and students will have access to IBM's operational processes, products and technologies.

Students will learn IT and security essentials and skills in security, ranging from network, systems and applications to cloud and mobile security.  They will also be mentored by IBM security professionals and learn how to monitor networks to prevent, manage and investigate security threats.

In the final year, students will receive internship opportunities to work with IBM security professionals on local or international projects to gain hands-on experience. Students will also have the option of taking an IBM exam to obtain the IBM Security Intelligence Specialist Certificate.
