A hacker has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the theft of 45 million identities.

 

Ukrainian Maksym Yastremskiy was among 11 people charged with hacking the network of clothing store TJ Maxx in 2007. He was charged by US authorities in August 2008 after being arrested in Turkey in 2007. The 25 year-old is believed to be responsible for losses of up to tens of millions of dollars worldwide.

 

He was charged with trafficking in unauthorised access devices, identity theft, aggravated identity theft and money laundering. TJ Maxx's owner TJX has paid millions in compensation to affected banks and customers.
