Trend Micro has launched a fully integrated, enterprise-wide data-loss prevention (DLP) product.Integrated into its Control Manager enterprise management platform, it said that it requires no extra endpoint agents, servers or administrative consoles; a combination of data and threat protection at the client, server and gateway allows the creation, application and enforcement of both data and threat-protection policies across the enterprise from a central point.
It claimed that there is no need to build a separate security layer or data protection infrastructure with this solution as it enables improved, cross-product data protection and improves incident response and handling and the understanding of a network's security posture.
Jon Oltsik, senior principal analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said: “We've been talking about enterprise DLP for years yet adoption is very low. DLP is needed now more than ever, but DLP technology needs to adapt to bridge the implementation gap. DLP has been so difficult to build as a stand-alone infrastructure. The architecture needs to change to provide integrated layers of protection, centrally managed and easily deployed.”
Steve Quane, chief product officer at Trend Micro, said: “Last year we announced and executed on the expansion of our data protection portfolio from endpoint to cloud. Today, Trend Micro Control Manager and integrated DLP represent the next step in our data-centric protection strategy. We're providing customers with pioneering single-click deployment of data-protection policies across multiple layers of existing security infrastructure, all from a single console.”
