Trend Micro has announced the launch of a business edition of its SafeSync storage facility.

Previously available as a consumer technology, the company said that users now receive continuous updates and improvements, while a sharing function allows employees to share their files with co-workers and clients. It said that SafeSync has no file size limits or folder permissions and one licence can be used by one company with multiple users.

It also said that SafeSync keeps an additional copy in the cloud that can be accessed from any web-enabled device or used in case of hardware failure or loss. A recent Trend Micro survey found that almost half (45 per cent) of small businesses have no formal backup methods for their devices.

Dan Conlon, engineering director and developer at Trend Micro, said: “We know that the majority of small business owners are juggling multiple devices and do not have a server to help backup and protect their sensitive data. We are excited to be able to offer an affordable and easy-to-use solution to protect their files whether they're in the office, at home or on the road that won't slow them down.”
