UK government agency joins FIDO Alliance

News by Danielle Correa

The FIDO Alliance has added a new government membership class, where an agency from the UK will be bringing its expertise as one of the first members.

Joining to represent specific government needs from FIDO's strong certification protocols is the UK's Office of the Cabinet, as well as the US' National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The UK has executed a massive identity roll-out that is targeted at consumer access to public services via social and mobile identities as part of its Identity Assurance (IDA) programme.

The UK programme is a leader with its work developing an identity infrastructure at scale that connects consumers and services all while combining next-generation user interfaces and references. It also solves back-end challenges such as secure user-data exchange and trust models.
