IP network provider Verizon Business has extended its denial-of-service (DoS) mitigation capabilities to 11 countries in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Verizon’s DoS Defence Mitigation service is now available in Australia, New Zealand, India, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan. As well as three new European countries – Ireland, Italy and Austria.

The network-based service is aimed at medium to large companies to intercept and redirect malicious traffic before it can compromise a corporate system.

Kerry Bailey, vice president of Verizon Business security solutions, said in a statement: “With more organisations embracing IP the need for enhancing security at this level becomes critical.

“DoS Defence Mitigation will help customers improve business continuity and defend against threats at the network level.”

The service is already available in the US and Europe, including the UK.

Pricing was unavailable at the time of going to press.

Last year, a quarter of online attacks were DoS, according to a Computer Security Institute (CSI) report.
