NetIQ has launched two virtual solutions to offer secure access to social media applications.

According to the company, SocialAccess enables users to securely login to online services using their social identity from Facebook, Twitter or Google, while CloudAccess is a single sign-on application that helps IT teams to manage the multitude of cloud applications that organisations now access.

Enabling companies to offer a ‘bring your own identity' (BYOI) policy, NetIQ said that the appliance-based SocialAccess 1.0 allows business and government entities to leverage social identity providers to share select identity information for authentication via OAuth and OpenID Connect.

Geoff Webb, director of solution strategy at NetIQ, said: “Consumers are demanding convenient access to more services from more endpoints than ever, and organisations need to be able to seize the opportunities that social identity, mobile computing, cloud and other trends naturally create.

“BYOI is a great example of the opportunity to build on existing processes, improve existing services and respond more rapidly to customers. Savvy, forward-thinking organisations are doing just that with SocialAccess, which complements existing access management strategies and improves business enablement in a way that traditional approaches cannot match.”

Also launched is version 1.1 of CloudAccess, which offers single sign-on and will automatically create, manage and disable accounts on supported applications. According to the company, it enables IT departments to extend the user's single sign-on experience to SaaS or other cloud applications, while keeping access secure.

Kent Purdy, solution marketing manager at NetIQ, said: “Prior to CloudAccess 1.1, existing approaches to managing user access to external resources was a difficult and manual process – made even more complex in light of the demands of today's dynamic organisations.

“With CloudAccess 1.1, NetIQ is not just delivering cloud single sign-on but also simplifying IT's ability to successfully turn SaaS, cloud, mobility and other disruptive trends into business-enabling opportunities – starting with an ability to rapidly adopt new cloud services without compromising existing access controls, security best practices and compliance requirements.”
