Denbighshire County Council has selected the Websense Web Security Gateway to provide complete web security protection.

Catering for its 3,500 users, the solution will enable the council to deliver dynamic and adaptive protection against new threats and uncategorised content, while enforcing multiple policies for its corporate users and members of the public that use council IT services in schools and libraries.

The Websense Security Gateway integrates with multiple directories to provide authentication and authorisation along with group and user-level policy enforcement. The council can now administer and enforce different policies for its three groups of web access users – schools, libraries and the council's corporate users – and is on the way to GCSx accreditation which will enable secure interactions between connected Local Authorities and organisations.

Shannon Gage, principal technical support manager at Denbighshire County Council, said: “Our primary focus is to protect our network from web-based threats while enabling safe, policy based Internet access for our user groups.

“We are also working toward Government Connect Secure Extranet (GCSx) accreditation and need an authentication process that will allow multiple policy servers and provide scanning at the gateway. As a long time Websense user, we were pleased to find that by upgrading to Web Security Gateway we could do all of this and more with one trusted vendor.”
